Review:   Sushi Island is a real treat. Several list members had recommended this place and it was my intention to visit on an earlier occasion but the mysterious events alluded to in the Mootone review intervened. Now that i have been I am quite impressed. The quality of the fish was superb and the pieces were sized for maximum flavor and not for American's eyes. The Ankimo appetizer was very tasty. The sake was fine and not nuked to boiling like some places do. The sushi boat for two had fourteen nigiri, two maki rolls cut to the standard 6 pieces each and five pairs of sashimi. Particularly notable was the use of toro on the boat instead of the maguro that so many places use. I did miss seeing my favorite tobiko, ikura, and uni sushi. The rice was moist enough to be a little extra sticky. This was fine for me, but for the lovely Japanese woman sitting with me it was the only thing that was not absolutely perfect. The boat comes with miso soups but not with salads. When combined with one ankimo, one large sake carafe, and two ice cream desserts the bill came to $62 before the tip. The bottom line is that we will be going back!
